Welcome to the third edition of the Smart Energy Hubs conference.

We are pleased to announce the third edition of the Smart Energy Hubs Conference, which will take place on November 4, 2026, at the U-Park Hotel on the campus of the University of Twente in Enschede.
Building on the success of the first two editions, this year’s conference once again brings together researchers, industry leaders, municipalities, and consultants to explore groundbreaking developments in smart energy systems, multi-energy hubs, flexibility solutions, and integrated technologies for the energy transition.

Good news! The deadline for submitting your contribution to the Smart Energy Conference has been extended to September 1, 2026!
On Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the third edition of the International Smart Energy Hubs Conference will take place. This event brings together researchers, companies, municipalities, and consultants to share knowledge and experiences on smart control of decentralized energy systems—from generation and storage to conversion and flexible use.
And you can be part of it!
Do you have insights, practical experiences, or innovative ideas related to smart energy hubs? Submit your abstract and present your work at the conference. We are looking for inspiring contributions on topics such as:
- Simulation and EMS tools
- Organization and governance of energy hubs
- Economic aspects
- System integration
- Solutions for grid congestion
Your contribution will be featured in one of the thematic parallel sessions.
The sessions will be chaired by leading experts, including Annemarije Kooijman (Saxion), Wytze van der Gaast (Hanze University of Applied Sciences), Roland van Rijswijk-Deij (University of Twente), Marjolein van Splunder (KGG), Armin Zegwaard (New Energy Coalition), Jan Geurts van Kessel (HAN University of Applied Sciences), Bart van der Laan (Alliander), and Robert Niels van Droffelaar (Oost NL).
Inspiring keynotes & engaging debate
Keynote speakers include Sara Gustafsson (Linköping University) and Simone van der Burg (Saxion University of Applied Sciences). The conference will also feature a lively debate moderated by Serge Santoo on “Resilient Energy Hubs: powering Europe’s energy future!” Confirmed panelists include Machiel Mulder (University of Groningen), Roland van Rijswijk-Deij (University of Twente), Marjolein van Splunder (KGG), Sara Gustafsson, and Simone van der Burg.

Looking back at the second edition
The second edition, held on November 12, 2025 at the U-Park Hotel on the campus of the University of Twente in Enschede, was a dynamic and inspiring event. Participants engaged in thematic parallel sessions, shared best practices, and discussed real-world applications of Smart Energy Hubs. The day was marked by valuable insights, fruitful discussions, and new collaborations.
